Matisse-inspired colours (Sort of) Part 2

Title: Hot air balloon fantasy
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 59.4 x 42 cm
Date: 4 Nov 2012
Status: Booked

I added the word fantasy behind the hot air balloon because I doubt there will be any hot air balloon which can fly above the sea of clouds. The wavy structure at the bottom with different shades of blue and white is actually sea of cloud which we normally see when we are flying in the plane. I have always wanted to add cloud sea into my painting. When I notice my hot air balloon is rather dry and empty, I suddenly had this idea of adding cloud sea in a more abstract way. Although the painting still look pretty empty, but at least the cloud sea makes it interesting. =)

I still haven't draft the 4th painting. The buyer gave me a title for the 4th painting. He's a professor from Texas. Despite his age, he behaves like a teenager when he talks about art. I like talking to him on skype because he make me feel young too. Anyway, back to the title. He mischievously told me he wants me to paint the 4th on this title "The feeling of kissing someone you love". And said "Haha! I'm giving you a challenge".

It is indeed challenging because all the paintings I did was based on solid things like hot air balloon, flowers, koi, trees, cells, virus. I have never painted "feeling" before. So, it's kinda hard for me to imagine what I should paint.

I'll share in this blog when I've done the feeling painting. =)
